On Germany’s largest island beaches, cliffs and piers meet chalk cliffs and Kap Arkona with the two famous lighthouses. An experienced English speaking guide leads you from Stralsund over the “Rügenbrücke”, the largest cable-stayed bridge in Germany, to Sassnitz and the national park centre “Königsstuhl”. There you will find untouched nature: Named after the most famous of all chalk cliffs the national park centre “Königstuhl” offers in addition to a viewing platform and an interactive exhibition, a multi-vision cinema to the ancient beech forests (“Alte Buchenwälder”, UNESCO World Heritage Site) and an outdoor area with giant swing, Caspar David Friedrich paintings and open-air stage.

Then you visit the Baltic resort Binz. A walk on the promenade and through the adjoining streets enchants and transports you to another time. Here you have enough possibilities for a coffee or a snack. In the late afternoon you make a short visit to Putbus, the former residence of the princes and continue back to the German Avenue (“Deutsche Alleenstraße”) via Garz to Stralsund. A view from the old “Rügendamm” to the splendid panorama of the Hanseatic City of Stralsund ends your day trip to the island of Rügen.
